Conestoga Christian School
Tuition Assistance Policy

CCS believes that the successful operation of a Christian School is dependent on a proper relationship between the family, the church and the school.  It also realizes that the availability of Christian education cannot always be dependent on the resources of the Christian family alone.  God bestows His gifts differently among His people.  To some, He gives financial blessing, to others ministries, and to others talents.  CCS recognizes the need of those families that truly desire a Christian education, yet are not able to meet the financial requirements set by the school.  It is for these families that the Tuition Assistance Program exists.  Churches are encouraged to support CCS’s tuition assistance policy.

Guidelines:

  1. Consideration for Tuition Assistance is given only to families who have enrolled their students in CCS and have remitted the registration fee.
  2. Tuition Assistance is determined by the Finance Committee.  Tuition Assistance will be awarded based on the philosophy that each recipient family will be making a financial sacrifice.  Tuition Assistance is available only for tuition and resource room fees.
  3. All applications and related materials are kept confidential.
  4. Tuition Assistance may be reduced during the year to those families whose tuition account is not in good standing unless prior arrangements are made with the business office.
  5. Tuition Assistance is not granted retroactively.
  6. Families of students who owe CCS funds resulting from overdue tuition, late fees, library fines, etc. will not be considered for Tuition Assistance in subsequent years until the delinquent account is paid.
  7. Families receiving Tuition Assistance are strongly encouraged to donate service time to CCS.
  8. CCS does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, ethnic or national origin in the administration of its Tuition Assistance program.
  9. CCS may request additional information at a later date to comply with various private and public programs.

Family Eligibility:

  1. Tuition Assistance is granted on a need basis.  The Finance Committee determines need by focusing on families’ financial statements as well as other factors. The Finance Committee may use the services of a consulting firm to determine need.
  2. All applications, forms and copies of documents that are requested in the Tuition Assistance packet must be completed and returned to the proper offices by their due dates prior to Tuition Assistance being granted.

Tuition Assistance Process:

1.       Tuition Assistance that is granted cannot exceed the budget unless approved by the Board of Trustees.

2.       The Finance Committee will grant Tuition Assistance in two rounds.

a.       The first round is for families who have completed the requirements outlined in the Tuition Assistance packet prior to the due date.

b.       The second round is for families who have not completed the requirements outlined in the Tuition Assistance packet prior to the due date.

c.       Second round aid should not exceed the rate of the recommended need of the first round aid.  The second round aid may be determined by a sub-committee appointed by the Finance Committee in order to expedite the process.  (In most cases second round Tuition Assistance granted is not as much as the first round due to limited funds.)

3.       The Finance Committee will make the first round Tuition Assistance determination by June 30th.  Families will be notified as soon as practically possible of the amount of aid granted.

The Finance Committee should be aware of the possibility that families may encounter mid-year challenges such as layoffs and be prepared to address those challenges from a Tuition Assistance standpoint.
