Middle School at CCS
The
middle school years are an excellent time to grow, serve
others, expand your vision, and try new things. For that reason, CCS
requires that all middle school students be involved in Christian
growth, service, or outreach activity for at least one quarter each
year. The qualifying activities include drama, Bible quizzing, teacher
assistant, choir, school-based service projects, making a comforter for
missionaries to distribute, nursing home visitation, choirchimes, or
worship team. (Most of these activities are offered during electives
period.) Students also have the option of performing service in their
church. Such services would include helping in youth ministries,
helping in the children's nursery, involvement in the worship team,
or participating in a mission trip.
In addition to the expected courses in Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Bible, each year middle school students are also given the opportunity to have instruction in art, music, Spanish, technology, health, physical education and computer skills.
Electives periods for middle school include vocal music, instrumental music, art class, intramurals, journalism, service options, worship team, and other interesting topics.
Middle school students can be involved in interscholastic sports, choir,
MACSA Bible Quizzing, and other
activities. The middle school students
elect student council members from each class. Student council operates
the middle school snack stand, plans social events, and uses the money
earned to support a child overseas through Compassion International.
Middle school students are encouraged to read regularly. As a part of the language arts curriculum, students are expected to complete four books each quarter. Book response forms can be found here:
